Thierry and Tove. That’s enough. Thierry Gueorgiou and Tove Alexandersson arte the best orienteerers in the world and they had a nice trip on their way to the finish line of O-Ringen at Sälen.
- I’ve had an amazing week here in Dalarna and winning O-Ringen is something I really enjoy, says Tove Alexandersson who was celebrated by thousands at the goal in Lindvallen.
O-Ringen in Dalarna ended in the best way, in the forest south of the mountains in Sälen. Tough, technical demanding and world class orienteering. At the same time Thierry and Tove sent some signals to their opponents before the upcoming World Championships.
Tove Alexandersson is in an amazing shape and won all the five stages. This is something that only Helena Jansson has done before, during the 50-year long history of the competition.
Tove crushed her opponents and won with no less than 16 minutes. In second place was the Norwegian star Anna M Hausken Nordberg, and third came the World champion Svetlana Mironova.
Thierry Gueorgiou has been a little up and down. This year the popular Frenchmen took his third victory in the total. Victory the first stage, the second and third stage were not quite as good, then he was superior the fourth stage and the fifth and last stage was a triumph. Jerker Lysell came second and third was Magne Dähli from Norway.
- This has been a nice week and I really like to run here in Dalarna, says Thierry Gueorgiou who are now switching focus to the World Championships.
The secretary general Jimmy Birklin can sum up a nice week in Sälen.
- The 17 clubs from Dalarna and their 1100 organizers have done a wonderful job. The propaganda for Dalarna and orienteering has been fantastic.
