The world’s biggest orienteering adventure
O-Ringen is more than an event – it’s a living celebration that brings together people of all ages, from all over the world, united by movement, community, and experiences in nature. Behind every edition stands Svensk Orientering Events AB, which, together with local volunteer associations, makes it possible to create something truly unique. Each year, around 75,000 volunteer hours are contributed by approximately 1,500 dedicated volunteers – a testament to the strong sense of community and heart that permeates all of O-Ringen.
The event company Svensk Orientering Events AB is fully owned by the Swedish Orienteering Federation, and all financial surplus from the event is reinvested into the orienteering movement and local clubs. In this way, O-Ringen contributes not only to memorable experiences, but also to the development of the sport and the strengthening of local associations.
Since its beginning in 1965, O-Ringen has grown into a beloved tradition, and every summer during week 30, the event moves to a new location in Sweden. O-Ringen Göteborg 2026 marks a special milestone – the 60th edition of the event. For the host municipality and region, O-Ringen is an opportunity to showcase itself, gain visibility, and generate a tourism-related economic impact of around 150 million SEK.
During ten intense and inspiring days, between 15,000 and 20,000 participants gather. An entire O-Ringen city emerges, featuring about 2,500 camping spots and a vibrant O-Ringen Square – the social heart of the event. Here, people meet over meals or coffee, shop in our sports market, take part in activities, and share experiences that last a lifetime.
The core of O-Ringen remains the same as over 60 years ago: five days of orienteering. At the same time, the event has evolved to welcome everyone – from beginners to world-class athletes, from the youngest to the oldest. Participants, ranging in age from 2 to 98 and coming from about 40 countries, are offered a wide range of activities and classes so that everyone can find their place.
To make participation as accessible and safe as possible, there are also support services such as childcare and Miniknat – ensuring that the whole family can join in and create their own O-Ringen memories.
O-Ringen is the world’s biggest orienteering adventure – a title we carry with pride and joy. With the same warmth, dedication, and inclusivity as always, we look forward to continuing to develop and nurture this unique event for future generations.
