Date announced for the release of additional camping pitches

At last, some great news!

We have now received a decision from Länsstyrelsen (the County Administrative Board). Happily, it’s a positive decision, meaning that on Monday 17th February at 9.00 am Swedish time, we will be making more camping pitches available at the O-Ringen campsite.

During that same week, from 17th-23rd February, there will also be a 20% discount on race registration fees, making them the same price as they were before the first entry deadline – regardless or not of whether you book a camping pitch.

Given this recent decision, we thought it was a good time to chat with our Project Manager for O-Ringen Jönköping 2025, Måns Lennermo.

Let’s start by asking, how are you feeling?

It’s really great that we’ve received this decision. Even though we were confident about a positive result all along, only now has that been formalised. Now we really can get to work on the next steps.

What is the decision, exactly? How many more pitches will there be?

The decision is in line with the guidelines set out in the provisions of the nature reserve. We had also applied to have an extra area of space to accommodate as many pitches as possible, but this was not granted. We are now hard at work to adjust our campsite planning in relation to this decision. We estimate that we’ll be able to offer around 1,600 pitches, meaning there will be an extra 600 pitches available to book in February.

Why couldn’t the campsite be extended?

Between the campsite and lake Vättern there is a steep scree slope. This is a sensitive habitat and there is also a risk of erosion and landslides. For example, only around a year ago the path by the lake had to be moved. We cannot have the campsite extending too close to this area. Of course, safety is paramount and we respect the decision of the Administrative Board and relevant legislative bodies, even if we would have liked more pitches.

So, what happens now?

We will make these extra pitches available on Monday 17th February, at 9.00am Swedish time. As promised, during the whole of this week (17th-23rd February), the same registration fees will apply as before the first entry deadline. This means there will be 20% off. This applies for everyone, whether or not you have booked a camping pitch, but I would suggest booking your pitch first and then registering for the competitions.

Is there anything else we should know about?

Everyone who’s been to Elmia knows that the fields there aren’t quite flat. We will have some planks available to help balance caravans and motorhomes but we also recommend that you consider bringing levelling ramps or your own planks with you.

For tents, it’s not quite as simple. This is why we, when new campsite pitches are available, you will be able to specify on the form whether you will be using a tent, to inform where the pitch will be. We will also ask those who have already booked if they would like to move to one of these pitches. We’ll use this information to organise and optimise the layout of the campsite. The first priority, however, will be that you will be camping near your clubmates no matter what kind of pitch you have booked, so we can’t guarantee that everyone’s camping pitch will be completely flat.
