Who can compete in the Para orienteering class?
The Para class is for competitors with an intellectual disability, i.e. an IQ under 75. This is equivalent to going to special school or receiving LSS support. You don’t need to have a parasport licence to compete.
The Para orienteering course has a very easy difficulty level and is 2 km long. It is foot orienteering on all five stages, which means accessibility is not adapted for wheelchairs or walking aids.
The Para orienteering class is open to all age groups. Start times are open on all stages. Competitors must be accompanied by a coach/parent/friend on the course.
Everyone gets a small prize at the finish of each stage. Prizes for stage winners and overall winners will be awarded at the prize giving. You can try out Para orienteering on each day - “Stage start Para orienteering”. This class is also for people with an intellectual disability.
There is a tent at the arena for all Para orienteering competitors. There will be helpers there from both O-Ringen and SOFT to explain and simplify how it all works before and after your course.
Do you have a visual impairment and want to compete at O-Ringen?
Orienteers with a visual impairment can choose an open class at a difficulty level that suits them. If your impairment means you require an enlarged map, contact tomas.yngstrom@orientering.se in advance for help with getting an adapted map.
