Few people see all the work that goes on behind the scenes. In Jönköping, it is the volunteers who carry the event on their shoulders, with early mornings, late nights and a commitment that is contagious.

"We do it for the joy and the community. It's fantastic to be able to participate and contribute to such a big event," says one of the volunteers who ensures that participants get water after the finish line.

Together with 1,200 other volunteers, she makes an effort to ensure that all participants have a good week. This involves everything from parking cars to cooking, driving buses, arranging security and welcoming thousands of participants to O-Ringentorget every day.

"Many of us have taken vacations to be here. We do it because we are passionate about the sport and want to show what the clubs in Jönköping can do," says another who works with service at the arena.

Long before the races start, the volunteers have been busy with planning, ground negotiations and technical tests. When the first start is done, it is wonderful, but far from over.

For the participants, it is perhaps most noticeable as a smile at the start or help with a lost compass. But without the volunteers, there is no O-Ringen!
