Competition areas

Foot-O

Stage 1 and 2, Jennylund

The week starts with two long distances that mostly take place in the Vättlefjäll nature reserve. Vättlefjäll is a wilderness area with few trails but many ponds, heavy mosses, easy-to-run valleys and open heights.

Fantastic orienteering terrain where both orienteering technique and running strength are rewarded.

Stage 3, Slottsskogen

After the activity day, it's time for a shortened middle distance. It takes place in the middle of Gothenburg in the park Slottsskogen. But just because it's a park, don't be fooled into thinking it'll be like "a walk in the park"!

The terrain is both hilly and very detailed in places. There are plenty of paths and also animal enclosures and open spaces. There will be no game driving here, so you have the chance to see moose, fallow deer and seals.

Stage 4 and 5, Länsmansgården

The finish takes place out on Hisingen in Svarte Mosse with a middle distance and a long distance in a terrain that is perhaps not as physically demanding as the beginning of the week.

Fewer curves but more technical orientation where a lot of details and open rock outcrops await between densely overgrown slopes and depressions. Several paths and stone walls cross the area.

Elite sprint, Göteborg city

The elite sprint is taking place in the middle of Gothenburg.

Here we encounter flat square areas along the moats, while the steep slopes up to the top of Otterhällan have a strongly winding block formation.

Bagheera Youth relay, Tuve

The youth relay race is located within cycling distance of O-Ringenstaden.

Here we are faced with two different areas - partly a hilly area with apartment buildings of various sizes and shapes and partly a flatter area with townhouses/villas.

MTBO

The week starts with two long distances in Delsjöterrängen, Gothenburg's outdoor paradise. Many trails of varying nature, from fast gravel exercise trails to technical MTB trails, which means challenging route choices on many of the sections. The hilliness varies from moderate to severe.

The middle distance on Stage 3 will be decided in Hisingsparken, within cycling distance of O-Ringentorget. It is an outdoor recreation area rich in all types of trails, exercise trails, riding trails, etc. but also with some buildings/residential areas. The hilliness varies from moderate to severe.

For the sprint on Stage 4, we will use the same area as for the 2023 Swedish Championships sprint with the finish at Herkulesgården just south of the beautiful Gunnebo Castle, which is located in the middle of the competition area. It is mostly shorter route choices between various nice forest trails and exercise trails with some moderate hilliness towards the end.

The last stage will be a slightly different long distance. Closest to the OK Landehof clubhouse there are an extremely large number of trails of a very varied nature. From wide, super-fast ski tracks and gravel roads to technical small trails. Further east there is a more normal trail network. The gradient is moderate. We plan for most classes to take place inside the ski stadium so it will be a crowd-friendly and exciting stage!

TrailO

TrailO will offer urban environments with views and proximity to the Göta Älv at four different locations. We promise that the orienteering technique will challenge you many times over. The arenas are located in Backa, Kungälv, Nya varvet and Ramberget. Stages 1-4 are World Ranking Events for TrailO-Elite.
